This table breaks out the Maximum A&A award into the Basic Pension and the Aid & Attendance (including Housebound) portion. In some states, Aid and Attendance maybe excluded from income and OR asset testing for Medicaid Programs. Each state makes their own rules, so make sure you know the situation in your state. e.g. In one state the A&A award maybe excluded from Income testing but any amount left over in a subsequent month may be included in asset testing while in another state, as long as the amount left over is kept separately identified, it will be excluded from asset testing. Do Your Homework and make sure you ask the VA for a letter stating the component of the award if your award letter does not clearly state the components.
